Advocacy and Stakeholder Alignment Programmes

Typically, advocacy work starts with examining specific topics and engaging multiple stakeholders through roundtable discussions with the aim of identifying urgent priorities and building consensus around these priorities. Analysis of the findings of the roundtable discussions yields priorities across all stakeholder segments that can then be drafted, with the aid of legal experts, into draft laws. These laws are usually supported by a compelling legal and financial argument to spur the government into taking action.
With regards to advocacy and stakeholder alignment, ABCD has developed in cooperation with the Jordanian Young Entrepreneurs Association (YEA) several policy papers related to improving the business environment (Facilitation of Business Formalization) for SME development. These policy papers include: 1) Application of the “Silence is Consent” Rule, 2) Examining the Requirement for Professional Ownership and Management of a Businesses, 3) Reducing Startup Capital Requirements for Establishing a Limited Liability Company, 4) Developing a National Advocacy Plan to prioritize and advocate for specific policy recommendations identified in the YEA Small and Medium Business Agenda.
